Notorious sports bettor Mattress Mack has signed a deal with FAU to cover the families of the players to travel to the games. The agreement will give the rights of the players’ names, images, and likeliness (NIL) to his retail chain to use at his discretion.
$50’000 is the amount Mattress Mack will contribute for travel and accommodation. On top of the sponsorship package, Mack also threw in tickets to the Houston Astros game for their opening debut in the World Series.
The Texas native is infamously known for making some terrible sports bets for millions of dollars. Many even claim Mack puts a curse on any team he makes a bet on.
With the tycoon recently coming out to say he will be hosting a dinner with the players and their families, and a pre-game pep talk to the team before their match with San Diego, some are already saying the Owls are doomed.
FAU are the underdogs, with Mack’s home town favorites, the University of Houston Cougars, he has turned his support to the Florida Atlantic University Owls.
Most Texas sports betting sites are putting the Owls at a 2.5 underdog to San Diego State. How much Mattress Mack is going to wager at the Final Four remains to be seen. But, with his track record and his fondness for the Owls, it’s expected to be an eye-watering amount of money.
